Allan Ochieng, better known by his stage name Hype Ballo, has been released on cash bail in the ongoing case of the death of a DCI detective that occurred in March 16, 2024.
DJ Joe Mfalme’s hypeman, who is the prime suspect in the murder of DCI officer Felix Kintosi, has been released on a Ksh.500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative of Ksh.500,000 cash bail.
On Wednesday, he was released by a Kiambu Law Court Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony on the condition that he attends all court proceedings without fail.
He was also ordered to report to the Kikuyu sub-county DCI office on the first day of every month until the key witness testifies, and is also expected to remain under the supervision of the Kibera area chief until his case is finalized.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution said the case will be mentioned on May 22, 2024, for pre-trial and scheduling of a hearing date.
Hype Ballo was involved in the legal battle after an altercation with the DCI officer, Felix Kintosi, turned deadly, following his tragic passing.
The incidence which involved DJ Joe Mfalme, Hype Ballo and their driver quickly escalated as the small altercation involving them with the detective turned sour as he sustained serious injuries that he later succumbed to a week later.
In the court proceeding in Kibera Law Courts on 8th April, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), asked for the charges of Joe Mfalme and the five others who were accused alongside to be dropped.
He stated that they were to serve as state witnesses in the murder case of the detective.
The other five who were accused alongside him but later turned to be state witnesses includes Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare.
DJ JR expressed joy on his Instagram socials following Ballo’s release and said,” God has done it!!! Ballo is out, and the world is happy! Now lets get back to work!
