Kakamega governor Fernandes is trending online for all the wrong reasons.
This is after an explicit photo of a man believe to be him surfaced online. It is alleged that the photo was leaked by a witchdoctor that Barasa sought services from to win the 2022 general elections.
According to a post by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, The witch doctor identified as William Simiyu Matere alias Elijah was arrested on Tuesday and detained at Kilimani Police station, before being arraigned on Wednesday and charged at the Kibera Law Courts with Conspiracy and Felony.
“On diverse dates between December 2023 and 18th day of March 2024 at an unknown place withing the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court conspired together to commit a felony namely demanding property with menaces and extorted from Fernandez Odinga Barasa a total sum of Kshs240,000, the property of the said Fernandez Odinga Barasa,” the charge sheet read.
Matere however denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi, and requested the court to release him on reasonable bail terms, saying that he is a man of humble means and would abide by all the conditions.
The magistrate released him of a Ksh2 million bond with a surety of a similar manner.
According to investigations, it was established that Matere had Governor Fernandez’s explicit and he used them to extort him. In December, he allegedly demanded Kshs270 million before lowering the amount to Kshs240 million.
