Joseph Mwenda  alias DJ Joe Mfalme has broken silence after being cleared of murder charges.

In a statement he shared on his Instagram account, the mix master thanked friends, family and supporters for standing with him during the challenging time.

He further noted that together with his team, they are relieved with the outcome of the investigations.

“As a result of the outcome of the investigations, DJ Joe Mfalme , Eric Kariuki and Simon Wanjiru have been released unconditionally by the court sitting at Kibera,” the statement read and further added;

“We have advised our legal representative to follow up with Allan Ochieng’s case and provide legal assistance.”

Joe Mfalme and other suspects in the death of DCI Officer Felix Kelian had been in remand for 14 days as investigations into the case went on.

Following the court sitting on Monday, DJ Joe Mfalme and five co-accused including three police officers have been made state witnesses. However, First respondent Allan Ochieng alias Hype Ballo who is DJ Joe’s hypeman  will now be charged with murder.

The other co-accused are: Eric Kariuki, Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadia Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare.

Dj Joe , his bouncer, driver and photographer were arrested on 16th March for allegedly assaulting the DCI officer at Kikuyu Market.

The officer had reportedly rammed the DJ’s car from behind before the assault occurred. the officer was later arrested and taken to Kikuyu police station. DJ Joe together with his team followed behind afterwards but were released and did not record any statements.

The detective complained of abdominal pains and was first taken to Langata Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi West Hospital where he died. that is when DJ Joe and his team were arrested for assault that led to the officer’s death.

Yesterday before being arraigned in court released a statement  thanking his fans for the support they had given him.

“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering loyalty and encouragement during this challenging period. our thoughts and prayers are still with the family and friends of those affected by this tragedy. The past 14 days have been intense, but your messages of solidarity and visits have kept the team going,” the statement read in part.

Further ,DJ Joe’s lawyer wants the vehicle(Volkswagen) that was involved in the altercation belonging to him held at Kabete police station to be released to the owner.
