An Autopsy conducted on the body of the woman who fell from the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani indicate that she suffered trauma injuries as a result of a fall from a height.
Pathologist Dr Peter Ndegwa revealed that Joan Nzomo, a 19-year-old college student, died as a result of multiple injuries she sustained from the fall. He said it was early to establish whether the deceased was pushed from the 10th floor, or if it was a case of suicide.
“She died as a result of injuries due to blunt force trauma consistent with fall from height. Thats my conclusion. Not stab wounds, all of them are from blunt objects consistent with fall from height,” Ndegwa explained.
The deceased met her death, on the wee hours of Saturday morning, shortly after meeting with Lawrence Gitonga, who is currently the main suspect behind her death.
On the fateful day, Nzomo and Gitonga met in an entertainment joint in Roysambu. They then headed to Kasarani and booked a room in the apartment where Nzomo met her death.
After the discovery of the Nzomo’s body, Gitonga was found in the room unconscious with multiple stab wounds.
Speaking on 3rd March the Nairobi regional commander Adamson Bungei said detectives are waiting for the man to recuperate before he is grilled to aid in the case.
Nzomo’s body was recovered in the wee hours on Saturday outside the electric fence of the short stay accommodation apartment that is also a residential apartment.
Detectives from DCI have been conducting investigations and grilled residents and the management of the apartment to help them with the leads to the cause of the tragedy
The case adds up to that of more than 20 women that have killed in past few months including; Rita Waeni and Starlet Wahu.
Homicide detectives who took over the case collected forensic evidence, personal belongings and secured the CCTV footage for further investigations.
