Kenya’s High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana nominee Vincent Mogaka Kemosi has turned down the offer by President William Ruto.

Kemosi who was supposed to be vetted by  Parliament but he instead wrote to the clerk of the National Assembly, turning down his nomination.

“I want to give my appreciation for the invitation to appear before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations, I wish to inform that I will not appear before the said Committee for the approval,” his letter read in part.

In his letter the former West Mugirango Member of Parliament cited family issues as the reason for declining the position saying that him not appearing before the committee would save them time of having to interview when he knew he wouldn’t take the job.

“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration will not allow me to take up the position of High Commissioner to Ghana,” he further stated.

The National Assembly Committee on Defense Intelligence and Foreign Relations accepted the former legislator’s decision and went ahead to vet other ambassadors and high commissioners nominated by the President.

He however has not revealed whether he had communicated his decision to reject his nomination to President William Ruto.

Kemosi lost  West Mugirango parliamentary seat in 2022 after vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

In March 2023, Ruto appointed Kemosi as Chief Administrative Secretary under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry but did not assume office after the court declared the process of the CASs nomination unconstitutional.
