Kenya’s renowned musician King Kaka has made a revelation of the project cost and insights of his new upcoming series dubbed “The Monkey Business”.
Speaking in a recent interview, King Kaka who has taken a significant leap into the film industry said that he had spent approximately Ksh. 6 Million.
“The Monkey Business” has cost Ksh. 6 million so far.He said, “Between now and December tumespend Ksh. 6 Million.” He said.
This revelation however has captured the attention of both his fans and the entertainment industry.
When asked about the financial returns of the series, he humorously said, “Ntapiga hesabu kesho,” indicating that he has not yet done the financial evaluation.
King Kaka also shared his criteria for selecting actors, emphasizing his use of social media to identify talent.
“Kuna wale niliwatoa social media nilikuwa nawadm kama Ivano nilimdm huyu amaplay Walenje nilimdm nkamwambia bro you have a lot of potential even though anafanya a lot of comedy I had to give him a serious role na hiyo ilikuwa aende class,” he explained.
His approach shows his commitment to nurturing raw talent and giving them opportunities to shine in serious roles.
Talking about the of production period, King Kaka revealed,
“We started casting in December. We started class and shooting in January tuka shoot for two months.” This structured and dedicated schedule show the rigorous effort put into the project.
The face of “The Monkey Business” is none other than Scar, a member of the popular music group Wakadinali. King Kaka elaborated on this choice, saying,
“Scar amekuwa rafiki na tumekuwa tukiongea. Pia amekuwa very passionate about film so nkamwambia bro unajua unaweza act so nkampeleka class.” he added.
Scar’s involvement among other artists is a testament to the collaborative spirit within the Kenyan entertainment industry and highlights the crossover potential between music, comedy and film.
While “The Monkey Business” continues to gain popularity King Kaka’s transition from music to film, not only showcases his flexibility but also enriches the Kenyan film landscape with fresh talent and compelling storytelling.
