Sorrow befell residents of Migori county as the lifeless body of 24-year old Elly Ochieng was found in a ditch along the Migori – Isebania road.
This incidence comes days after two people were found dead and other two injured with gunshot wounds, in two different incidents amid the rising cases of insecurity in the area.
Following this attacks, Migori residents are calling upon the police to increase patrols as a means to curb the rising insecurity threats in the area.
Martine Owino, a Migori town resident and chairman of Calotra Sacco, where Elly belonged said the recent incidents have raised a lot of concern as residents are living in constant fear.
“We are living in shock and we want police to increase patrols in major towns and the public to help in reporting suspects,” Owino said
Felix Opiyo, the assistant chief of the Lower Marindi sub-location said the deceased, a resident of the Geto area in Migori town, was murdered after nighttime attacks.
“We have been grappling with nighttime robberies and insecurity and we suspect the deceased was killed by unknown assailants,” Opiyo said.
Ochieng’ was found to have bruises on the body and the left leg broken.
The previous cases happened on Monday morning, where two people were shot dead while two others sustained serious injuries after gangsters wreaked havoc the Sunday night at Ntimaru town in Kuria East Constituency.
Ntimaru sub-county police boss Kennedy Osando said the two people injured after the attacks are in stable conditions after being rushed to Migori Hospital.
He said investigations into the incidences have commenced and that they are going to include liaising with their colleagues in nearby Tanzania to bring perpetrators to book.
