Shadrack Mitty, a journalist working for Standard Media Group, passed away today, according to the announcement given by his family.

Mitty passed away this morning just after midnight while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital.

According to Standard Media Group, Mitty suddenly fell ill and his condition worsened yesterday 28th May before he passed away some minutes past midnight.

Mitty was an experienced education beat reporter for KTN News, having covered significant stories such as the transition of the curriculum from the 8-4-4 system to the CBC one.

In addition, he discussed worldwide education issues and provided updates on multiple KCSE and KCPE exam intakes.

The Standard Group Fraternity released a statement mourning with the family and friends of their employee and colleague Shadrack Mitty.

Their broadcast and Innovation editor, Kizito Namulanda, condoled the family by releasing a statement on behalf of the Standard Media Group.

He said that he was deeply saddened by the passing of his colleague who he characterized as focused, composed and dedicated.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our colleague Shadrach. I have known Mitty as a very focused, composed, and dedicated reporter with an unrivaled passion for education stories,” he began.

He concluded by saying that Mitty would be deeply missed and wished the family courage at this trying time.

”We will surely miss him. May the Almighty Lord give his family and friends strength during this difficult moment,” said Broadcast and Innovation Editor, Kizito Namulanda.

Ken Mijungu, Deputy Editor of Standard Group Broadcast, expressed his condolences for Shadrack and remembered him as a committed person.

“His professionalism was unparalleled and his passion was undeniable.” he began

”A kind teammate whose connections in the field of education were invaluable to our efforts,” Mijungu stated

“He was a good man, a great gentleman.” he ended his condoling message.
