Singer Rihanna was reportedly paid Kshs1.3 billion to perform at a pre-wedding of the son of India’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani.
Mukesh, 66, has thrown a 3-day party for his son Anant, who is aged 28. Anant is the youngest of his three children and he is set to marry Radhika Merchant in July 2023.
The festivities kicked off earlier this week with the family serving food to locals in Jamnagar City.
1,200 guests will be attending the event and they include high profile persons and billionaires. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerbag and Bill Gates are among those in attendance. Others are Bollywood stars such Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
“The guest list appears to have more RSVPs from global corporate titans than the weddings of Mr Ambani’s two older children in 2018 and 2019, underscoring Reliance’s growing clout and role as a conduit to the Indian economy for global tech, media and energy giants,” Bloomberg wrote.
In 2018, the Ambani family hired Beyonce to perform at the pre-wedding of their daughter Isha.
According to Forbes, Mukesh is the world’s 10th richest man with a net worth of $115 billion. He is the chairman of multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited, that operates in sectors such as refining and retail to financial services and telecom. The company was founded by his father in 1966.
All his three children serve in the company’s board.
