President William Ruto, on Tuesday evening, addressed the nation, after the country witnessed protests that led to parliament invasion and death of several protetors.

In his speech, Ruto issued a tough warning to organizers of the protests, while vowing that such an occurrence will never recur under his watch.

“I hereby put on notice the planners, financiers, orchestrators and abettors of violence and anarchy, that these security infrastructures established to protect our republic and its sovereignty, will be deployed to secure the country and restore normalcy,” the head of state said.

He added that, “Accordingly, I assure Kenyans that we shall provide a full, effective and expeditious response to today’s treasonous events.

“I shall continue to lead a government that is fully committed to maintaining the integrity of our state, promoting the unity of our nation and enhancing the peace and security of all citizens and their livelihoods.

Responding to his address, Miguna Miguna, on X told the president that he should not only withdraw the finance bill, but he should also resign.

“A response to ⁦ @WilliamsRuto⁩: Pack up and go. Withdraw #FinanceBill2024 and resign, or we will remove you from power, in exercise of our sovereign rights under clause 1 of the Constitution. #RutoMustGo #FreshElections,” further sharing a video to respond to the matter.

In the video, Miguna noted that Kenyans from all parts of the country had rejected Ruto.

“This is not a small thing and is not something that has happened before. Kenyans of all generations have rejected you William Ruto. The protests that have taken place have been peaceful and have been led by well educated, articulate, focused and very disciplined Kenyans. They made a simple demands that you should have met,” Migunba said.
