Ochieno

Mathare United forward Meshack Ochieno insists that the club is well on course to secure FKF premier league promotion.

Mathare was relegated last season, after 25 years being in the league, after finishing second last in the FKF premier league table.

Their return to the league is just the matter of time as they are in position two with 68 points, four points behind the NSL league leaders Mara sugar, with only five matches remaining the season to end.

Ochieno who is in his first season, joined Mathare from Kenya Methodist university.

He believes that the team has the depth to face the rest of the matches with enough strength and grab an automatic league promotion.

Ochieno has been a key player at the Mathare squad as he has scored nine goals so far.

The footballer  is confident that the team will withstand the pressure and win the league despite the tight competition they are facing from their opponents.

“It is normal to be under pressure in football. The top teams have the pressure to remain at the top , while the bottom-ranked have their worries to take care of. I am sure we will make it, as we have the qualities to do it,” he said.

Mathare will have a chance to bridge the gap between them and Mara sugar this coming Friday when they will be hosting Vihiga Bullets at Dandora stadium.
