Njugush and his wife Celestine Ndinda have ventured into the matatu business.
The couple made the bold business step by acquiring a 33-seater mini bus that has been registered under the Super Metro Sacco.
The matatu, that has been named after their firstborn son Tugi, will be plying the Nairobi-Kitengela route.
The couple unveiled their investment in the company of their close friends namely; Abel Mutua and his wife Judy Nyawira, Eddie Butita and Phil Director.
The friends were also honoured with their photos plastered on the matatu except Abel. Reacting to it, he humorously downplayed the matatu, saying there is a problem.
“We unaona hii mathree ikiweza kweli bro? Hii mathree iko chini. First of all unafaa ufanye vitu zinapamba matatu yako. Mkurugenzi sahi ni talk of town. Unanunuaje matatu bila kuweka picha ya mkurugenzi? Wewe huoni kuna shida hapo? Kuna hujuma. Kuna sacco imeniweka kwa matatu zao kutoka juu mpaka chini. Hiyo matatu maze haipumziki, iko kazi hivi, juu mkurugenzi anauza.” he said in an interview with SPM Buzz.
According to him, the vehicle will only thrive with his photo. He also jokingly thrashed its avocado-themed interior.
“Lakini sasa yeye ameeka avocado. unaekaje avocado na hauna picha ya Mkuru ndani? Hiyo unafanya kazi gani hii Nairobi. Hii ni biashara gani? Acha tu nimwambie ukwleli. Kama kuna mahali ametupa doh, ni hapa. Afadhali hata tungefungua kitu ingine kama butchery tuuze ngombe. watu wa matatu tunawajua.
“Wewe unaona anaeza kuwa mtu wa matatu? Afungue biashara ya kukamua hiyo tutatii. Kukatia ngombe nyasi hivi hiyo afadhali. Mi huwa nasema ukweli. Hata angekuwa hapa ningesema. Boy wangu ametupa pesa hapa acha tuseme tu ukweli. Mi ningekwa yeye ningeuzia mtu sahi,” Mutua said.
On the other hand, Njugush explained the reason behind his decision to omit Abel Mutua’s photo.
“It is because everyone of those people wamecontribute. Ningetaka kuchora wasee wote, kama wasee walikuja TTNT 1, 2,3,4 na 5 ningewachora hapo but for those guys the key guys wamechangia in one way or the other. Mtu tu hajachangia na ndio maana sijamchora ni Abel, in one way or the other because kwa hii dunia hauwezi fanya vitu pekee yako,” the comedian said.
Asked on why he ventured into the matatu business, Njugush said, “Sina answer ya hio but ideally hakuna place hatuingii, next tunaingia farming. Tunajaribu kila kitu.”
