Mike Sonko on Tuesday revealed that celebrated boxer Conjestina Achieng’ was back to his care after spending two months at her rural home, a move that triggered her mental problems.
Conjestina stopped working for Sonko after she was forced to use a bus to Nairobi from Mombasa.
The former governor however said that Conjestina had been readmitted at Mombasa Women Hospital, where she would be treated and counselled.
“Even though our chances in Conjestina’s healing journey were watered down, I’m a person who doesn’t give up in life. It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case. I just want to let the public know that she was readmitted at the Mombasa women rehabilitation centre where she will start her treatment afresh under the care of a group of specialists, including councillors, consultants and physiatrists.
“My special thanks go to the Mombasa Women’s Hospital management led by the chief administrator, Hon. Amina Abdalla for accepting us back to the facility. Mungu mbele,” Sonko shared.
Sonko’s wordings however did not sit well with comedian Mammito, who thought he was a little too harsh.
Mammito asked Sonko to be patient with Conjestina, saying that she would heal at her own pace.
“Mental illness is intense and takes time for someone to fully recover. It is a process and you can’t put limits on when someone will recover. Her willingness to go back to rehab is a step so be kind. Let her heal on her own pace. Don’t be harsh where kindness and love is needed,” she wrote.
