The Kericho county assembly has approved an impeachment motion against County Secretary Wesley Bor.
Bor is accused of misuse of office, unfair transfer of staff, forgery and the theft of the Londiani crash victims funds.
Other accusations include misappropriation of sh 39million Kazi kwa vijana funds and and failure to advise the county on the compensation disbursement.
Ainamoi MCA Cheruiyot Bett says investigations carried by an ad hoc committee established that the county secretary chaired the victims’ compensation committee.
“The decision to censure Bor is informed by the findings of an ad hoc committee formed to investigate his conduct. Bor is the cause of all problems facing the county,” he said.
Addressing the press, Bett blamed the secretary for the problems faced by the county, stating that his removal is the beginning of solving the problems.
Vincent Korir of Londiani on his part told Governor Erick Mutai to remove the Secretary, whom he says is not fit to hold any public office.
“We want Governor Erick Mutai to sack the secretary if he is not willing to resign. We conducted a fundraiser for the victims of the Londiani accident but sad enough, the funds were stolen. Investigations established that Bor was the chair of the committee that was handling the cash,” noted Korir.
Bor however has a chance to defend himself before a 5 member committee, with some county staff backing his removal.
