The Kenya National and Highways Authority (KeNHA)has issued a traffic advisory to motorists using Mombasa Road particularly around the Konza area.

KeNHA  in a statement on Thursday noted that there was heavy traffic around the Konza area, urging motorists to be patient and cautious.

“KeNHA advises motorists travelling through the Konza Area to exercise patience and caution due to ongoing construction works causing traffic delays,” the highways authority said.

They assured the motorists that  they are doing everything they can to hasten the construction happening along the route which is causing the traffic snarl.

“The Authority understands the inconvenience and assures you that efforts are being made to expedite the process,” KeNHA said.

Motorists are to expect a smooth flow of traffic along the route by the weekend.

“Please drive carefully and follow all traffic regulations. We anticipate smoother traffic flow by the weekend. Thank you for your cooperation,” the highways authority said.

This even as the authority on Wednesday advised motorists to refrain from attempting to cross the Athi River Bridge until the water levels recede to safe levels.

In a statement on X, the authority advised motorists of a significant traffic disruption resulting from ongoing rains.

“Athi River flooded early this morning and the bridge linking Kitengela to Mombasa Road along Namanga Road is impassible,” it said.

“Take an alternate route by diverting through the East African Portland Cement junction via Athi River to Devki.” the authority added.
