Nyashinski

Rapper Nyashnski is embroiled in a legal battle with a Nigerian producer Sam Eli.

Sam Eli dragged the renown rapper and vocalist to court last year in August over an endorsement deal, worth millions, that he signed with Tenco Kenya in May 2023, where he was announced the brand ambassador of the company.

The producer accused Nyashnski of copyright infringement after he used his hit song Wach Wach, to promote Tecno phones. Eli  was the producer of the song.

In court documents, Eli lamented that he also has a right to earn  from the total earning that the promotion attained but his efforts to acquire what was rightfully his proved futile, hence the decision to seek the court’s intervention.

In March 2024, during a live court session, the court ordered Nyashinski to provide the contract he signed with Tecno in May 2023. His lawyers requested for more time to adhere to the requirement.

“The brand ambassadorship agreement is subject to non-disclosure agreement, a confidential agreement that we cannot produce in court,”  his lawyers argued.

The court however ordered the respondents to provide the documents with 14 days as well as a report on the royalties earned from 5 of Nyashinski’s songs that Eli produced. The songs include; Flowers, Wach Wach, Too Much, Top form and Showman.

Following the frustrations, Nyashinski has threatened to deal with the smart phone company, warning that they will never mess with any other person.

“Tecno Kenya, your time is up. You have cause me enough distress. I want to make sure I am the last person you will ever mess with. Itakuwa funzo,” he shared on Instagram.
