Comedian turned humanitarian Eric Omondi has been recorded saying that he does not go but the title comedian anymore because he believes that there is nothing funny in Kenya at the moment.
He cited that Kenyans are grappling with tough economic times and they don’t have anything to laugh about.
‘Can right now Eric Omondi be called a comedian?” the interviewer probed.
“Right now, Eric Omondi is not comedian because there’s nothing funny in Kenya. There’s nobody who wants to laugh people are depressed,” the father of two answered.
The former comedian and entertainer continued to say that he believes all comedy shows in this country should be banned as there is nothing to smile about.
“ Huwezi cheka kwa Matanga” Eric continued to explain . He then delved into the somber mood currently being experienced in the country because of all the unfortunate fatal deaths that have been occurring.
He however said that he will only get back to comedy after everything settles down and things are back to normal.
Eric recently launched an initiative dubbed Kenya employment Association in a bid to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page, the vocal social media influencer said almost half of the Kenyan population is jobless hence making it difficult for most families to make ends meet and live comfortable lives.
According to Eric Omondi, the initiative will provide employment opportunities by connecting employers to employees genuinely without bias.
He also called on employers and anyone who has an opportunity regardless of the type of work should be open to hiring Kenyans to help with the joblessness situation in the country.
