Popular socialite Huddah Monroe has reacted to the viral video of a young man called Ian Njoroge who was caught on camera physically assaulting a traffic police officer.
She said on her Instagram that the video made her day and that many people would wish to do the same thing to police.
”That video made my day.” she wrote on her stories
Huddah stated that although she does not support violence, she knows many Kenyans would wish to do the same to the police especially because that is what the police do to them.
” I don’t condone vayolence but this boy did what most of us wish we could do back to the police back in Nairobi,” she continued.
She added that the police arrest and practice extrajudicial killings on youth who are mostly innocent and end up unpunished.
According to Huddah, Ian preferred death to humiliation at the hands of the police. She congratulated him for standing up for himself as very few people would do the same.
” Ian Njoroge said afadhali kufa sometimes than to condone humiliation. Do you think Kenya would be where it is if our ancestors didn’t fight for their rights? We are a bunch of cowards. Let’s praise the few who stand up for themselves,” she concluded
As part of an operation headed by the DCI of the Nairobi area, the suspect was taken to custody on Sunday night.
He was subjected to a brusque interrogation by people who were probably police officials shortly after his detention.
Njoroge revealed the reason for the altercation when the officer questioned him where he had the guts to hit a police officer tactfully during their hostile exchange.
“I was just angry. We were not understanding each other because he wanted a lot of money which I could not get…” he said.
