Swahili Kenyan journalist and former State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena, has narrated the worst advice she has ever received from a friend
In an interview with Parents Magazine, Dena shared a shocking story from her past. She listened to her friend’s advice which turned to be her biggest regret to the present.
The 44-year-old revealed that she started working as a waitress at a restaurant in Nairobi after completing high school.
It was during this period while coping with city life, after accomplishing her task, that a friend asked her to chill at a close by club. This was because they were caught on a hefty traffic.
“One evening, after a long shift, we were caught in a heavy traffic. My friend suggested we wait it out at a nearby club,” Dena recalled.
This thoughtful suggestion of her friend led her to drinking more than enough.
“I had my first Pilsner, then second, and third. We found ourselves finishing the whole crate! Then stepping on the crate, I couldn’t stand, because we were saving the jam,” she recalled
“But I don’t drink anymore. That used to be my brand. Mungu alinikomboa. Thank you Jesus,” she said.
The mother of two admitted having loved the beer because it had captivating adverts on local TV stations.
That night marked her first experience with alcohol. She added that taking her friend’s bad advice changed her life forever.
However, opposed to expectations, it changed her life to the better. Kanze says it was a revive to getting saved.
Recently, there were rumors that she was battling throat cancer. Posts were spread all over social media platforms by rumor mongers leaving her fans in panic.
She refuted the reports through Instagram post saying that she is well and will not die anytime soon.
Speaking about her retirement experience, the journalist said, ‘is good’, that she can’t complain. She added that she is now rediscovering herself away from the from media expectations.
