Manchester united have entered the race to appoint Kieran McKenna as their new head coach and they have already met the representatives of the Ipswitch Town manager.
McKenna is one of English football’s hottest coaching properties after leading Ipswitch to back-to-back promotions, inheriting a team that was struggling in the third tier in December before leading the Tractor into the premier league for the first time since 2001/2002 season.
Chelsea have made the 38 years old a leading candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino, who has left the club on a mutual consent.
However Chelsea could face competition from Manchester United who may sack their current coach Erick ten Hag after FA final tomorrow.
The Dutchman has come under pressure after the club’s lowest league finish in the premier league table.
McKenna is understood to be an option to replace Ten Hag, having previously spent 5 years as a coaching staff at Old Trafford.
McKenna was appointed manager of clubs U18 side in 2016 and later worked as the assistant coach under the leadership of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
McKenna’s knowledge of the club and eye-catching tenure at Ipswitch have made him an attractive candidate for United .
Brighton also want McKenna to replace Roberto De Zerbi but they face a challenge to convince him given interest from higher up the division.
