Abel

Renown producer and actor Abel Mutua has claimed that he was useless in school.

According to him, he was suspended multiple times because of being involved with drama and acting, something that was inborn.

He however doesn’t blame his teachers because by then, actors and actress weren’t making a fortune out of their craft.

“I was useless(in highschool). I am sure my late mum looks at me from heaven and wonders what my problem was, because I was very useless in high school. But you can’t contain  an artist’s mind. I am purely an artist but in class they want me to study social education and ethics, chemistry and nothing else, If I am spotted in drama, I am suspended.

“I was suspended more than twice because of going for drama festivals. That generation of our teachers believed that drama was for thugs and people who have no future. But I can’t blame them because at the time, we were also wondering if we wanted to become the actors we were looking up to, because acting was just a by the way,” he said in an interview with Mpasho.

Abel also revealed that he has never used his CV to get a job since 2008 when he started working.

The father of one says that most of the things he learnt in school don’t apply anywhere in what he is currently doing.

“Si ati nataka kudiscourage watu waache story ya vitabu. Mimi up to very this moment, I have never been asked for my papers anywhere. Hakuna place nimewashipeleka CV yangu hivi tangu nianze kazi. It is now 16 years, sijawahiulizwa CV na mtu.

“The thing about craft, kwa class unasoma vitu kidogo sana the thing that I am doing now, hakuna kitu nilisoma kwa class inanisaidia that is why it is useless to ask me for for papers. That’s why I understand Larry Madowo. Alijua tu from the word go he is a communicator  so as long as Kiswahili or English amepata grade ya maana, that is all that is needed, hizi vitu zingine zote ni details tu,” he said.
