Rapper Kanye West, who changed his name to Ye, has caused quite a fuss when he supposedly hinted about quitting music in a text message leaked by fellow rapper Rich the Kid.
Throughout his career, Kanye has been a divisive figure due to his groundbreaking albums like “The College Dropout” and “Graduation,” as well as his countless controversies, including the infamous interruption of Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
Rich the Kid released a statement from Kanye on July 9th, saying, “I’m leaving the professional music industry. Not sure what more can be done.”
Fans reacted differently to this news; some were angry, while others applauded the possible change. But not long after, about thirty minutes after sharing the text message exchange regarding Ye’s purported retirement, The Rich Kid removed it from his Instagram Story.
Rich the Kid provided clarification in a another post, stating, “Actually we dropping Friday,” along with a picture of 18 new tracks.
Ye feels as though he’s being drained of all his heart, soul, time, and energy after dedicating so much of himself to the music industry, a person with knowledge of the issue claimed.
Ye’s announcement of his musical retirement coincides with the lack of a release date for the eagerly anticipated Vultures sequel.
When Vultures 1 by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign was released in February, it became the number one album on the charts. Despite Ty Dolla $ign’s declaration that every song on the second album is finished, neither the promised second nor third volumes nor a potential release date have been announced.
The original plan was for it to debut in May. The only information we presently have, though, comes from Ye and Ty’s announcement of a Vultures listening session, which is set for August 23 at Goyang Stadium in Korea.
