The President and other government figures who were accused of hiring thugs to infiltrate peaceful protests received a strong warning to cease from former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka on X.
He claims that their attempt to use goons to stifle nonviolent protests will not stop the Gen Zs from carrying on with their demonstrations.
” Ruto and your henchmen, stop the disgraceful practice of hiring goons and thugs to disrupt the countrywide peaceful protest inspired by our Gen Zs,” he wrote
The demonstrations would end once they listen to the people and step down, he said, accusing them of being tone deaf to the needs of the Kenyan people.
” Stop being tone deaf. The protests will seize when you and your regime heed the people’s call for your immediate and unreserved resignation.”

In agreement with Kalonzo’s assertion, Cyprian Nyakundi, an X user and vocal opponent of proposed taxes, claimed that Gen Zs initiated an organic protest that was later taken over by UDA representatives, who sent goons to sabotage the nonviolent demonstrations.
He goes on to say that politicians ought to keep UDA disputes out of protests and that the people stealing are not members of Gen Z.
”Gen Zs started a good organic movement but now it has become UDA internal wrangles field. Sponsoring of goons etc. We need answers on who is sponsoring the goons. This country cannot tolerate anarchy. Those who have been looting are not Gen Z’s. Keep UDA wars out of protest” he wrote.
