Recently the country underwent a total shut down due to the reject finance bill protests, with leading activists such as Kasamuel McOure being abducted by unknown people and held incommunicado for days .
An online uproar has however been activated by Polo Kimani, popularly known as Metro Booming, who pointed out that there is is a possibility that Kasamuel MacOure staged his own abduction, urging him to come out an apologize to the public before Monday .
“ I am demanding to Kasamuel wa masuti to come out and apologize to Kenyans for faking his own abduction by Monday it is very stupid of you and melts the legitimacy of the other real abductions that other people faced ,” he wrote on his x page .
In response Kasamuel Stated that he won’t further engage in protests, pointing out that that was very low of Kimani to accuse him of such.
“This is so low ,Kimani I don’t have the heart to participate, I have no apology to offer you or anyone in that matter I’ll step aside from the movement. The last thing I’ll want to do is illegitimize it ,May the struggle for our liberation continue,” he wrote.
The High Court had earlier this week issued an order directing the DPP, AG, DCI and NIS to immediately and unconditionally release all social media users allegedly abducted after expressing their dissatisfaction with the unpopular 2024 Finance Bill.
Justice Chacha Mwita at the same time restrained the state from abducting vocal social media and political activist Gabriel Oguda and 12 others once released.
The other 12 are listed as Osama Otero who has been holding popular X Spaces opposing the Finance Bill 2024.
The said petitioners being active citizens on social media platforms sensitized the youth to come out in large numbers and to advocate for the rejection of the finance bill in totality.
“Specifically, they prepared placards communicating their protest message, organizing podcast on X platform commonly called the X Space where they mobilized more than 60,000 persons who listened in, spoke and expressed their frustrations among other things,” read the documents in part.
