Mathias Keya, famously known as Alfonse Makacha Makokha, well known for his role in Vioja Mahakamani is grieving the death of his spouse, Purity Wambui.

The news about Purity’s death was shared by his fellow actor Ondiek Nyuka Kwota on Facebook.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the demise of Purity Wambui, beloved wife to Makokha. She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness and warmth. Makokha Makacha and his family are deeply grateful for your love and support during this incredibly difficult season”

Ondiek Nyuka Kwota announced the news on Sunday, June 2nd, describing Wambui as a remarkable and compassionate woman.

Many Kenyans took to social media  to offer Makokha and his family their condolences.

Makokha, who rose to fame on the local comedy program Vioja Mahakamani, embraced a new path after the show was over.

He has acted in a number of local TV shows, such as the KTN comedy program Daktari in Kiswahili, and a comedy YouTube series he co-hosted with fellow actor Ondiek Nyuka Kuota.

Makokha was born in Kakamega, but his family moved to Maringo when there was conflict between the Teso and Sumbiji tribes.

In a previous interview,Makokha disclosed that, despite his scholastic struggles as a slow learner, he got his start in comedy at an early age by taking part in school plays.

Makokha attributed his passion of languages and comedy to his father, who taught him the art of humour and spoke over 160 languages, including Korean and Indian.

The father of four journey to fame on television started when he attracted the attention of well-known performers Lucy and Ondiek while they were performing at Safari Park.

Because of his personality and natural talent, he was able to land a position in the popular comedy show “Vioja Mahakamani” without having to go through any auditions.
