A police officer attached to Kamukunji Police Station was was on Sunday evening swept away by raging floods while rescuing three women and child who had been trapped in a stall at the Nairobi Country Bus terminus.
David Chesire who was in the company of his colleagues saw the four trapped by the flash floods in a stall where a concrete slap had caved in.
According to Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei, the officer stepped into an open manhole after safely rescuing the family before being swept away by the raging floods on the Sunday 10 pm incident.
“We searched for him in vain. We are going back to the place for further searches,” said Bungei.
The incident was reported at the Kamukunji Police Station and a search and rescue operation is still going on.
Similarly, in another incident of a video circulating, online a man is reported to have been swept away by the heavy rains from South C area in Nairobi to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport(JKIA).
The man is reported to have have escaped death after being saved by a culvert by the side of the road.

This unfortunate incidents however add up to incidences that left Nairobi city dwellers in distress as many people were displaced following the downpour.
According to Bungei three other people in separate events lost their lives after being swept away by the raging floods in Dagoretti, Gigiri and Buruburu areas in Nairobi county.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the morgue as they await identification and burials.
Data from the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) shows that the rains will stretch to Wednesday as most parts of the country will experience heavy rains.
