Mzabibu challenge has currently taken over the internet by  storm.

Kenyans on TikTok and across different social media channels have hopped into the dance challenge of the gospel song that is originally from the Mijikenda Community.

Zabron Ndale, the creator of the Mzabibu song, revealed that he released the audio 10 years ago, and he attributes it’s current success to God’s grace.

The song is he borrowed from the book of John 15, which states, “1: I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2: He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful”, according to the New International Bible Version.

“It is just the grace of God. I released the song in 2014. The song comes from the book of John 15, and that is where the inspiration comes from. I hold all the rights to this song. The song has attracted styles that I never imagined,” he said in an interview

He is however concerned about the dance styles that video creators have adopted with the song, which he says might be misleading as the song is a gospel one.

“The styles make you wonder if this is a gospel song. They are doing it for fun, but, for me, it is a serious song even though it is still in audio. I will release a video of the song so that people can stop dancing those funny moves,” he said.

Ndale said that he stopped recording songs due to the decline of DCs and Cassettes in the early 2000. However, with the viral Mzabibu challenge, he is hoping to make a music comeback. The artist has called upon well wishers to support him.

“I attend events to perform my songs, but if anyone can support me in releasing more songs, I will be grateful,” said Ndale.
