In a  brave revelation, comedian Andrew Dancan Oduor, popularly known as 2mbili, has opened up about his long standing struggle with masturbation addiction.

Speaking openly about the issue, 2mbili said that his addictions goes way back to his high school days.

To relate to his addictions he drew a comparison to more commonly acknowledged addictions such as alcoholism and stealing.

“Unajua Kuna watu wanakunywa pombe wanashindwa kuwacha. Kuna watu ni wezi. They’ve made a lot of money but still they can’t quit because it is an addiction.”

He continued sharing, “Ushawahi ona mwizi amepigwa risasi apone tena arudi pale pale?” He asked this question to explain  the nature of his behavior.

When asked about his efforts to overcome the addiction, 2mbili admitted that he has tried praying, but so far it has only achieved a little success.

“Maybe praying on it but it hasn’t worked much. Number ndio zimepunguka saa hii ni kaa mara nne kwa siku,” he shared this showing a slight reduction in the number of times he masterbates per day.

Despite the personal and social challenges that come with such an admission, 2mbili’s openness brings to light an issue that can lead to stigmatization.

Also, he acknowledged that he is not alone in this struggle, saying,

“I know I am not alone, people are doing it out here.” His honesty about his addiction is a bold move that shines a light on the realities of behavioral addictions.

Moreover, 2mbili mentioned that his addiction has in a way, helped him move on, during times when he was denied sex or simply he puts it ” kunyimwa.”

2mbili’s public confession is a  reminder of the difficulties that  are surrounding any addiction regardless of its form.

Most importantly his willingness to discuss his experience may encourage many others to acknowledge their struggles and seek support too. His story stands as a testament to the ongoing battle which many people with similar issues face.
