Popular female artist Jovial has said that doing collabos is one of the things she deeply regrets in her music career.
In an interview with a local radio, the Jeraha hitmaker said that she currently doesn’t want to be featured by other artists unless they are paying her good money.
She said that she is charging a lot of money for the collaborations and it doesn’t mater whether it is with an upcoming or established singer.
“For now I don’t want to do collabos unless you are coming with a lot of money. If there is a time I have deeply regretted is doing collabos. It is something that I hate in my entire career,” she said.
The mother of one noted that she started being successful when she embarked on releasing solo songs.
“Wasanii ni majambazi, wana ujambazi mwingi sana” she said, bearing no remorse for using such a heavy word. “I’m at a point in my career and life where I don’t care people’s opinions about me. That is there problem.”
“There is nothing hard like pleasing a human being, it can even make you forget living,” she added.
The singer further said that she is in a very beautiful space currently in her career.
“I’m happy. I have an upcoming EP, there are collabos but they are on me. If you see someone has featured me in their song, that person has used money. Sitaki mazoea,” she and proceeded to share lessons she has learnt in her music journey.
“For anyone starting music, don’t hurry about blowing there are things that God protects you from and as a human you can’t see. At times you might think this is a stepping stone to get you any where but it could be a curse or even worse. Take your time, build yourself get the right energy, right artists with humanity. Out here people have their own goal on why they want to work with you.”
