Two women suspected of trafficking narcotics in the coastal city of Mombasa were on Friday evening nabbed with sachets of cocaine in Kisauni, Utange area.

The two suspects, Amina Musa Chirunga and Saumu Ali Khamis, were arrested in an operation mounted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit officers in Kisauni.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the officers were acting on a tip that led to the arrest of the two women.

Upon a thorough search of their house, the officers were able to recover the sachets of cocaine with an estimated street value of over Ksh.400,000.

“Acting on a tip-off, police cordoned the house of the two suspects, Amina Musa Chirunga and Saumu Ali Khamis, where upon search the nose candy estimated at a street value of Sh495,000 was discovered.” The statement read in part.

According to police, the two will be arraigned in court on Monday 27 May.

” That suspects will be arraigned Monday.” the statement read.

This comes a few months after a man suspected of drug trafficking was arrested with 417 grams of cocaine estimated at Ksh.1.8 million hidden in his shoes.

According to police, 24-year-old Charles Obaga Kavehere was nabbed in a Nairobi-bound bus that was travelling from Moyale.

Anti-narcotic detectives acting on intelligence information intercepted the bus belonging to Score Investment Ltd at Blue post in Thika where they found Kavehere in possession of the drug.

The detectives in cahoots with the Operations Support Unit upon searching the bus found the drug estimated at 1.8 Million hidden in the innersole of his shoes.
