A suspected robber has been electrocuted and killed on the spot while breaking-in at a home in Ebusikhale village, Vihiga county.
According to the police, the suspect was electrocuted while attempting to switch off the main switch on a meter box on March 6. His move was aimed at creating an ample environment for him to conduct his robbery activities.
The deceased reportedly broke into the home, uprooted arrowroots and stole chicken.
The police were called to the scene after villagers discovered a the lifeless body of the robber lying next to the meter box in the homestead.
The body of the deceased was moved to the morgue pending autopsy.
The electrocution case comes after a recent incident where 4 workers at St Andrews Turi, Nakuru County were also electrocuted. The four were aged between 50 and 60 years. They were moving a tent in the school compound when it came into contact with the power lines, causing them to suffer serious burns.
To avert such tragedies, the Kenya Power and Lightening Company has urged Kenyans to observe safety measures. In case of an emergency, they are advised to call the toll-free number of the Kenya power.
