In a bold and unwavering declaration, Silvanus Osoro, Member of Parliament for South Mugirango, has confirmed again his support for the Finance Bill 2024.

Despite a lot of criticism, Osoro maintains his vote stance that if the bill were to be brought to Parliament today, he would still casted a ‘YES’ vote.

In his address, Osoro said that he only had respect for President William Ruto’s decision to withdraw “The Finance Bill 2024” but clarified that he didn’t agree with the president’s decision.

“Just told my people that I simply respect H.E the president’s decision, but I did not agree with him. Yaani, kama ni Leo ilikuwa ukuje bunge, bado ninge-VOTE YEEES!! I would still VOTE YES if the bill came today,” Osoro asserted.

The Finance Bill 2024 has been a topic of intense debate, and Osoro elaborated on his reasons for supporting it.

“Voting NO for me was NOT an option however the noise and insults,” he stated. According to , saying ‘YES’ to the bill was crucial for ensuring that those importing cheap potatoes and eggs into Nairobi would be subject to higher taxes.

In this way, he argued that it would protect and create market opportunities for Kenyan farmers.

Additionally, Osoro highlighted the bill’s provisions that he found particularly very beneficial for the people.

“The bill proposed Ksh 50 million for electricity and 30 million more for bursaries!!” he exclaimed.

He further mentioned that his 2,000 teachers were set to receive permanent and pensionable (PnP) letters, a significant milestone in securing their employment.

While acknowledging the controversy and opposition surrounding the Finance Bill 2024, Osoro remained steadfast in his conviction. “Pow!! Wacha tukae vile tumezoea tu sasa. Twende pole pooole.

To address the angry people who were strongly opposing the controversial bill and demanded that he needed to apologize for betrayal he said,

“So wale wanasema sijui apology from me, mtangoja sana.”

Osoro’s firm stance has sparked a lot criticism, reflecting that many people were for the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024.
