Police in Nairobi have arrested two more in connection to the murder of women whose bodies were dumped at Kware dumping site in Mukuru Kwa Njenga.

In a statement on July 16, 2024, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations  said the two are being held over possession of a phone belonging to Roselyn Akoth, one of victims whose body was recovered at the  Kware dumping site.

“Meanwhile, two other persons of interest being held by investigators to assist the in the ongoing investigation include one Amos Momanyi Mogusu who was found with the mobile phone belonging to slain Roselyn Akoth and Moses Ogembo who sold the handset to Momanyi.

“Upon arrest of Amos Momanyi Mogusu at City Cabanas and recovery of the mobile phone Monday, he led detectives to Ogembo’s house at Mukuru kwa Reuben, who was found with a total of 154 used mobile phones stashed In his house,” DCI said.

Akoth was positively identified by her family at City Mortuary and an autopsy on her body was conducted in their presence. The family also recorded a statement with the homicide detectives and further identified the deceased’s handbag that was among the exhibits recovered in the main suspect’s house.

The main suspect in the killings, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, confessed to killing 42 women and dumping their bodies at Kware, according to detectives.

His lawyer John Ndegwa, however laments that Jumaisi was extensively tortured by police to confess to the crimes, which he seemingly didn’t commit.

“Nothing concrete has been produced before this court in respect to the accusations levelled against my client. Much of what has been adduced is mere speculation,”  Ndegwa said, adding that his client was in dire need of medical attention.

Makadara Law courts allowed detention of the suspect for 30 days as investigations continue.
