The house that the government was building for fallen Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum will be handed to his family this Thursday, ahead of his state funeral that has been scheduled for Friday.
President William Ruto ordered the construction of last week and the contractor and engineer have been able to deliver in 7 days.
The 3-bedroom house was constructed at Kiptum’s farm in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County by Vastu company limited. The construction work began on Friday last week.
The technology that was used in constructing the house is known as precast, or prefabricated housing. It involved use of steal beams,cement boards and plywood.
Originally from, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland, the technology allows constructors to “fabricate concrete components off-site.”
The technology is yet to be fully explored across the world is affordable and time saving.
In Kiptum’s case, the skeleton of the house and roofing as well as the foundation were completed in three days.

Meanwhile, the body of Kiptum has left the morgue for a procession in Eldoret town. The body will then be transferred to his home ahead of his funeral.
