Eric Omondi

On the back of a dark bay horse in a pure red outfit, Eric Omondi bravely went to parliament buildings with a sole purpose; to deliver a message about the Finance Bill 2024

According to him, he was send to warn MPs and the president that they shouldn’t attempt to pass the contentious bill.

“They send us  to resist the Finance Bill 2024. If the parliament of Kenya passes the Bill, this country will never be the same again that is the message I have been send to tell you. The president should not attempt to sign that bill into ;law, it is punitive inaumiza vijana, mama mboga, watu wa cancer, imeguza pampers mpaka dawa ya watoto,” he said.

“Ma MPs wale mlipitisha, ilikuwa tu second reading, wasiapprove, wasipitishe, hio tu ndio message,” he added

His presence however seemed uncomfortable for the surrounding,  with a heavy presence of General Service Unit(GSU) being witnessed shortly after he showed up. Aware of how things would turn out, two of them warned him that he should leave before they pounce on him, going ahead to whip the poor horse.

“Animal’s rights Nipige mimi mispige mnyama. Nimekuja kukufa  kama ndugu yangu mkuje mniuwe, nimekuja mniuwe, mkipitisha hii nchi haitakuwa sawa. Watu 204 hamueziamuliwa watu milioni hamsin nne. Nimetumwa kuleta onyo,” Eric was defiant.

In a blink of an eye, a group of police officers approached him and pulled him down from the horse.

The comedian was then seen getting multiple whips from the officers before they took him into custody.

Eric Omondi  was with his other protestors who ran away, leaving him defenceless as the police dealt with him.

This incident occurred  just two weeks after the comedian was detained for opposing the proposed tax measures outside the same parliament buildings.

Eric Omondi made a daring pledge to make MPs responsible for their votes on the financial bill.

In a previous interview with well-known media figure Jeff Koinange, Eric admitted their little influence but stressed the strength of their creativity as a weapon.

“We don’t have much muscles, but we are creatives,” Omondi stated. “Any MP who is going to vote for the finance bill tutawaona. We will have their names, their faces, and their constituencies.”

Omondi’s warning did not end there. He revealed their plan to creatively target those who support the bill.

In another instance, the comedian-turned activist was cornered by the security guards and taken inside one of the rooms next to the tower.

The comedian was handcuffed, but he still yelled, trying to get the demonstrators to support him.

The demonstrators, who were demanding that members of Parliament weigh in on the controversial law, were seen holding large placards.

While demonstrating, the demonstrators the majority of whom were women dressed in sackcloth accused the lawmakers of betrayal and said they intended to sign the Finance bill into law.
