If the appointment is anything to go by, Kamene lands the top job a year after quitting Kiss FM. Kamene left Kiss FM at the end of January 2023 after failing to renew her contract due to health concerns.
“My contract was due 28/29 of January and the previous year in December, Sinclair( Radio Africa Group Program controller)called me to talk about my contract renewal and I said that I didn’t intend on renewing my contract. I told him that I am not enjoying the job that I am doing anymore, it’s starting to weigh down on my health,” she said in October 2023.
She will also be returning to the NRG about 5 years after quitting. She quit the station in 2019 alongside Andrew Kibe and the pair later joined Kiss FM.
A section of netizens are however smelling a rat in her new appointment, considering that April 1 is Fool’s Day.
“Aprl Fools’ Day activated,” Odonkovic said
Rita Ayuma, “Fools’ Day shenanigans
Others have however not welcomed the move saying that it wasn’t right and NRG should stick to Gen Zs. Several others have congratulated Kamene, saying she is deserving of the position.
Kamene on the other hand has welcomed the appointment, noting that her 32nd birthday has come with all the blessings.
“The year 32 has come with all the blessings,” she said.
