Misinformation and Lack of awareness on the withdrawn Finance Bill led to the rejection of the bill, Mosop MP Abraham Kirwa now says.

Kirwa admitted that the relevant government structures including the majority leadership in parliament failed to raise awareness among the public concerning the bill.

Addressing the press, he noted that some individuals took advantage of the situation to mislead the public, a situation he says would have been avoided.

“The finance Bill 2024 was the best ever. However, the relevant government structures including the majority leadership in parliament failed to raise awareness and that is why it was rejected,” he noted.

He defended his decision to vote for the bill, arguing it was good for Kenyans, since contentious clauses had been expunged.

He also voiced his support for the overhaul of the cabinet, arguing that some cabinet members are non-performers and that Kenyans have lost confidence in many of them.

Concerning the relations between President William Rutto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, the MP acknowledged that all is not well, noting that the head of state was keen on uniting the country.

“The truth is that al is not well between the President and his deputy. I cant tell where and how the problem started. However, the head of state is keen on uniting the nation and that is why he is ready for dialogue concerning matters of national interest,” added Kirwa.

Kirwa further proposed total banning of handouts in the country, instead calling for the proper empowerment of Kenyans.
