Mara Sugar

Promotion hopeful Mara Sugar will be on a mission to bag maximum points and draw closer to the FKF premier league as they will be playing against Gusii FC today at Cardial Otunga grounds.

Mara appears destined for top flight football as the outfit currently enjoying a solid advantage at the summit of the second tier.

The Benedict Wanjala coached has amased 71 points, four more than the second place Mathare united after 32 matches.

The sugar men, head to Kisii to secure their 23rd win of this season and inch closer to sealing one of the two available automatic promotion tickets.

While Mara are at the summit and well on course for promotion, Gusii are deep into the red zone with 23 points, four adrift of safety.

Mara will not be the sole promotion hunting club that will be in action today as Naivas have a date with Kajiado at the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.

Naivas were firmly in control of the second tier league earlier the year but have since dropped out of the top two following a streak of unwanted results.

However, the Collins Omondi tutored side hasn’t lost hope in gracing the top tier next season given that they still have a mathematical chance of gaining promotion.

Naivas are ranked fourth with 60 points, eleven behind Mara sugar and eight behind Mathare united.

Victory over Kajiado will see then swap places with the third placed Nairobi united, who won yesterday against Mombasa elite.
