The Kenya National Examination council (KNEC) has released the 2023 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KEPSEA) results.
1,282,574 students sat for the exams in 2023.
This marks the second exam under CBC, signalling a new era in education. The KEPSEA candidates did five subjects; mathematics, english, Kiswahili, integrated science and social studies and creative arts.
At grade seven, all the KEPSEA candidates will move to Junior secondary.
Parents and education stakeholders however will access the results from their headteachers who have the logins to the KNEC CBA portal. Results were published online according to a directive by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.
“We are releasing a notice this afternoon to ask parents to check with their schools,” one of the officials stated.
The results were,however,released four days after students reported back to their respective schools on Monday January 15. The grade 6 students who proceeded to grade 7 were the first to sit the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KEPSEA) under the Competency Based Curriculum.
Speaking during the Murang’a county education day on January 14, the CS directed teachers to allow students to join JSS before the release of the results. Students who could not purchase new uniforms were asked to report with their grade six ones as they continued with their transition.
Early this month KNEC CEO David Njeng’ere said KEPSEA registration exercise will start on January 29 and end in March 2024, He appealed to school principals to ensure that all the eligible candidates are registered within the period.”Please not that there will be no late registration after the two months,” he said.
Headteachers were further urged to charge the stipulated school fees and desist from forcing parents to incur extra charges during this hard economic times.
Also students who are joining form one have been awarded with elimu scholarship which will run in all the 47 counties, all education stakeholders were in attendance led by Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
