”Our content creators should be supported all the way. They should be encouraged and supported 100%” the statement read.
He also felt the need to train the youth on monetization and called for talks on the matter.
” We should be training our youth on monetization and we are deliberate on the matter”
The chairperson then directed the withdrawal of the notices and called for an engagement with all the stakeholders.
He ended by stating that they should be talking about thousands of opportunities and jobs in the digital media.
” We should be talking about thousands of opportunities, if not hundreds of thousands of jobs in the digital media.”
This comes after Steve Thompson Maghana also known as Oga Obinna was issued a notice that called for compliance with the Kenya Film Classification Board regulations.
It also demanded Oga Obinna get a filming license and submit them for examination before content is distributed to the public via YouTube.
It also stated that he had fourteen days to comply or else legal action would be taken against him.
The Kenya Film Classification Board had previously issued the warning, which had caused a stir among internet users who questioned where it originated as it had never been issued.
Some, particularly Oga Obinna’s admirers, believed that the regulation was put in place to undermine him since he invited controversial guests to his program.
