Fire

The Old Moi Library belonging to Kenyatta University has been burnt down after a fire broke out in the dead of night leading to a massive property destruction.

The Library is located less than a kilometer from the school’s main gate.

According to sources the fire erupted under unclear circumstances and all was visible was the bright glow cast by the intense inferno.

Students, onlookers and emergency responders were met with a daunting scene as the fire illuminated the surrounding area, reflecting off the wet pavement of the university roads.

Firefighters worked tirelessly to control the fire, which at its peak, seemed to consume everything in its path.

The emergency response from fire fighters helped stop the fire from spreading to a nearby restaurant  and a nearby gas station preventing a potentially fatal incident from happening.

As the flames were brought under control, the focus shifted to assessing the damage and planning the recovery.

This however is not the only fire reported in the country this year. Early April this year, a dormitory was been razed down by an inferno at Masii Boys High School in Mwala, Machakos County.

According to Mwala subcounty police commander Nancy Jerobon said the fire incident that broke out a few minutes after 7 pm, led to the loss of property of unknown value.

“A dormitory has been razed and property of unknown value lost to the inferno,” Jerobon said.

Several residents joined students and teachers in putting out the fire even as a fire brigade from the Machakos County acted fast in putting out the fire deterring it from spreading to other structures in the school compound.

According to Machakos police boss no casualty was reported during the incident.
