The Kenya national Under 17 women’s football team, the Junior Starlets, will face a formidable Group C in the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. Set to be hosted in the Dominican Republic, the group includes England, Korea DPR, and Mexico.

The draw for the tournament, conducted by FIFA on June 23, 2024, in the host nation, placed the Junior Starlets in Pot 4.

Kenya, making their debut in this competition, will kick off their campaign against England on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The England U17 women’s team has participated in the tournament twice, with their best result being a fourth-place finish in 2008.

Facing the Young Lionesses will be a tough start for the Junior Starlets, who are eager to make an impact in their first appearance.

In addition to England, Kenya will face the highly experienced Korea DPR team. North Korea has competed in the tournament seven times and has a strong track record.

They have reached the World Cup finals on three occasions and won the championship in 2008 and 2016. This makes Korea DPR one of the most formidable opponents in Group C.

The Junior Starlets will also need to prove their mettle against Mexico. The Mexican team has made six appearances in the competition, with their best performance being runners-up in 2018. This history of strong performances makes Mexico another challenging opponent for Kenya in their group stage matches.

The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, 2024. This tournament marks an important milestone for the Junior Starlets as they compete on the global stage for the first time.

Despite the tough competition in Group C, the Kenyan team is determined to showcase their talent and resilience, aiming to make a memorable debut in the prestigious tournament.
