Huddah Monroe, a Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur has reacted to allegations made by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka that JKIA is being sold.

Monroe shared her grievances to the news on her Instagram story saying the act of selling the airport is not even imaginable by anyone.

“How do you even sell your own airport? It’s like the way Ruto had said that they’ll lease the port to a private investor,” Huddah stated.

She revealed that allowing the ports to be ran by private investor may deny government the control of imports and exports.

“When airport is gone, or port is gone that means we can’t have a say on what comes in and out of Kenya,” she explained.

Huddah did not stop there. She further warned that small businesses would be affected by port owner who might introduce his own business.

“Some of the smaller business owners who ship goods through air to make a life might be cancelled for life and the owner of the airport brings his own things/people and his own trade.”

Additionally, Monroe questioned the impact of selling an international airport comparing it to shutting down the country.

“Do you know the impact of selling an international airport? It’s like shutting down the entire country. Whoever was involved in that deal should be expelled and exiled to Gaza! with his entire family.” Huddah Monroe said.

However, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has allayed the fears that the government is considering the sale of JKIA saying no such plans have been made.

Details had emerged that government had entered into an alleged private deal to lease the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to an Indian firm, Adani Airport Holdings Limited.

“Let me put it clearly that the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is not on sale. It’s a public asset and a strategic asset. If it was going to be sold, you can only do it after a full public process that Parliament endorses,” he said.

He elaborated that Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) should initiate plans to modernize the international airport to enhance passenger experience and increase traffic.
