Ebenezer Smith, alias Millennium Chef Smith, a chef from Ghana, was taken into custody at the La Police Station after faking breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Smith gave his supporters a certificate attesting to the fact that he had become the new world record holder for the 820-hour 25-minute cookathon, which began on February 1 and ended on March 6, 2024.
His cook-a-thon resulted in a star-studded event with the Asakaa Boys, Praye Tietia, Yaw Tog, Amerado, and Kofi Jamar among other musicians.
The chef declared, “Today is the day that I will forever remember,” at the briefing, which took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. As the Guinness World Record holder, I am deeply humbled and honoured to be here today.”

“We inform the general public and the media about Millennium Chef Smith’s press conference with great pleasure and honour,” the Ghanaian chef stated in a previous social media post.
“He will be announcing his results from the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. The event will take place at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Alina Polianskaya, the PR executive for GWR, confirmed that his certificate was invalid. She added, “No, this is not true at all.” That is not our certificate, and he does not own the GWR title.
“The current and true record holder is: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” he added.
He was taken into custody by the police not long after he flaunted his credentials and declared his phoney record.
Numerous sponsors allegedly gave Smith money to try a cook-a-thon, which he failed to properly register with GWR. One sponsor, the owner of the Amadia Shopping Mall, provided over 350,000 cedis to the event, and as a result, Smith was arrested.
