Wedding

A daring couple, Angie Chege and Sanja Nyamwega, has captured Kenyan hearts with their extraordinary choice of a wedding venue – the bustling streets of Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD). In a captivating video circulating on social media, the couple exchanged vows at the Archives grounds, surrounded by the city’s daily hustle and bustle.

Bucking the traditional wedding setting, the bride, adorned in a traditional white gown and veil, and the groom, elegantly dressed in black trousers and a white shirt, turned the ordinary into something magical. The undated video showcases the couple making their commitment amidst the intrigued gaze of onlookers.

The ceremony, officiated by a pastor, defied societal expectations as he encouraged bystanders not to dismiss the street wedding as a spectacle. He emphasized that while people are accustomed to conventional church or hotel weddings, this unique celebration marked a historic moment at the Archives grounds.

“Mnadhani hii ni sarakasi, mnadhani hii ni mazaha. This is a real wedding. The only difference is that mumezoea harusi za kanisa, harusi za hoteli, lakini hamjawahi ona za streets. This is the first time in history at Archives grounds, for a wedding to be done in this place. So we give glory to God,” he asserted.

The event sparked divided reactions on social media, with some questioning its authenticity and others applauding the couple’s bravery. Amidst the chatter, the couple’s unconventional choice has ignited a broader conversation about the essence of weddings and societal expectations.

As the video continues to resonate with Kenyans, the couple’s decision to tie the knot in the heart of Nairobi challenges norms, bringing a touch of romance to the city streets.
