Fire razed down a children’s home in Mradi Area, Embakasi East on Sunday night leaving many children homeless and counting multiple losses.
According to various reports the fire broke out around midnight but the cause is not yet established. The area Mp Hon Babu Owino revealed that the fire reduced the children home into ashes.
“Sad news as fire has razed down a children’s home in Mradi area in Embakasi, the helpless kids have been left homeless. Continue praying for us,” he added.
The incident came hours after Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja visited Nairobi firefighters who are nursing injuries after a wall collapsed on them in Kariobangi.
“Our Firefighters put a lot at stake to conduct response to emergencies across the city. We greatly appreciate their industry and sacrifice. This afternoon, I visited two of our officers who were injured in Kariobangi after a wall collapsed during response to a fire incident and are recuperating in hospital. We support them and encourage all our valiant officers to keep doing all they can to save lives and property,” he said
The children’s home fire incident however comes weeks after another fire incident involving gas explosion was witnessed in the same area. The fire led to massive destruction of property, loss of lives and more that 300 people were left with injuries.
Following the incident, Sakaja ordered the closure of all gas businesses operating in residential areas, to prevent such tragedies in future.
