Civil societies in the South Rift want President William Ruto not to reappoint any of the recently dismissed Cabinet Secretaries.
The societies Director Robert Ngeno argued that Kenyans have lost confidence in the dismissed CSs hence should not hold any public office.
Speaking in Kericho town, he also blamed the individuals for dismal performance, despite having been allocated huge amounts of money.
“Kenyans had lost confidence in the CSs. Their performance was also below expectations. As civil societies, we want Ruto not to reappoint any of them,” he noted.
He maintained that holders of public offices should be people of high integrity and above reproach as outlined in chapter 6 of the constitution.
Ngeno also wants the government to be proactive in order to prevent protests which could lead to loss of life and property as recently witnessed.
“The government has been reactive to problems for a long time. This is wrong. Ruto should listen to Kenyans in order to avoid loss of life and property through protests like the ones being witnessed in the country,” added Ngeno.
The Societies maintained that Kenyans can directly exercise their power even without the opposition, adding that they must be heard and their needs addressed.
Rutto yielded to pressure to dissolve his entire cabinet last week, and is expected to announce a new one anytime.
