chira's grandma

Brian Chira’s grandma Esther Njeri Chira has expressed gratitude for all those who stood with her when she lost her grandson.

She however believes that Chira’s death was not an accident, as she thought before and is calling upon those with information that would help her get justice for his death to record statements with the police.

While speaking to Mungai Eve, she explained why she ruled out an accident on the death that occurred in mid-March this year.

“I had not known. I just knew it was the car that took away his life. I then heard people saying that he was killed, I remained quiet. When I went City Mortuary, I saw that Brian had been hit with a very sharp object. I concluded that it wasn’t a car, because there was no blood anywhere, his T-shirt was clean. His hands or body parts had no scratches, just the forehead. It was like he was hit with something and placed carefully. Because of the way I was, I didn’t want a lot of things because he was already dead,” Njeri said.

Her choice to not to pursue the case saw her face criticism over her silence.

“I told them to go and write statements to the police about what they know, so that the government deals with the case,” she said, adding that only two people have since given their statements to the police.

On Baba Talisha being the suspected to have something with the death, Chira’s grandma and Baba Talisha went to DCI who declined to pursue the case saying it was merely a social media matter.

Autopsy results indicated that Chira was hit by a sharp object but the they didn’t provide details of the exact object.

At the same time, she opened up on the intrigues that saw Chira’s grandfather, who is her ex husband decline to bury him.

“I was also chased by my husband. I was married for 30 years but when my husband wanted to marry another second wife, he chased me away. I returned to my parent’s home.  Since I left, the current wife is the sixth. They come as they go. Brian was chased by his grandfather several times. He told him to stay with his grandmother,” she narrated.

“I have never spoken to him since our separation even after Brian’s death. Many people went to him asking for space to burry Brian but I didn’t go. He told them there is no Brian’s grave there. We had lands, we worked hard and bought lots of lands. I sent my daughter Regina Chira to her father about the same and he told her that he can’t burry Brian. He added that he shouldn’t be associated with his burial. I don’t know why. We settled to burying Brian where I was born, there were no disputes with my brothers, and they gave me space to lay him to rest,” Chira’s grandma added.

According to her, her ex-husband demanded for an apology days to Chira’s burial before granting him a final resting place but because burial arrangements has already been put in place, they didn’t have to submit to his demands.

At the same time, she revealed that she learnt of Brian’s sickness through social media.

On Chira’s sexuality, Njeri said that she just heard people talking about on social media after his death but she never knew or saw anything of the sought before. She added that she would advise Chira whenever he misbehaved online and at some point, he heeded her advise as his scandals gradually reduced.
