Kenya Finance Bill protests are a series of ongoing decentralized mass protests in Kenya against the 2024 Finance Bill proposed to increase taxes by the Government of Kenya.
The protests have left the country in total uncertainty as viral pictures and videos depict massive destruction of property and even disturbing graphics of dead protesters, who were shot during the occupy Parliament protests.
Due to various online engagements, the news has hit global platforms and international news rooms thus causing various organizations, musicians and politicians to come forth in solidarity with Kenyans, during these challenging times.
Artists from different countries including Jamaica ,Tanzania,and Nigeria have recently shown Kenyan youths their support.
Popcaan, Vybz Kartel, Cecile,Tekno Miles from Nigeria ,Kabaka Pyramids and Queen Ifraq have shown much love for Kenya thus taking the heartfelt messages to their Instagram pages .
Jamaican reggae star Kabaka Pyramid is among the prominent voices lending support. The Grammy Award winner shared a heartfelt message in a video, praising the courage and determination of Kenyan protesters
“What an inspiration! More strength and perseverance to all the youth taking a stand against the insane tax increase in Kenya!! I wish my people in Jamaica could rise up and speak up against our government,” Kabaka Pyramid declared, highlighting the universal struggle against oppressive policies.
Taking it to his Instagram page Popcaan wrote , “Prayers and strength to my Kenyans Stay strong out there RIP to those who lost their lives during the protests,”
Celebrated female reggae artist Cecile followed suit also as she took to her Instagram page and wrote , “+254 stay up ,stay safe and be blessed”.
Tekno miles from Nigeria also raised his concern by asking what’s really happening in Kenya urging people to speak for Kenya and what’s happening currently.
“This is not the Africa ….wth speak up for Kenya,”
The current situation in the country has amplified just how much the youths have power by airing their needs and practicing their constitutional rights like engaging in peaceful demonstration and using social media to engage people on social issues affecting the society at large.
