Omondi

In a candid address, renowned Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has voiced his concerns about the state of Kenyan politics and the recently proposed financial bill.

Omondi’s remarks have resonated with many, highlighting his growing role as a vocal commentator on national issues.

He began by addressing what he described as a “vicious circle” in Kenyan politics.

“The campaign circle is the same in this country and that must be stopped, l keep telling Kenyans that nobody is coming to save you. You must save yourself,”” he emphasized.

The comedian mentioned that change will not come from external saviors but must be initiated by the citizens themselves he stated this urging Kenyans to take serious steps in shaping their future.

Also, he talked about the generation that fought for Kenya’s independence and those who were in the liberations to make his point be understood further.

“There is the generation of independence: Jomo Kenyatta, Ochieng Oneko, Oginga Odinga, who fought for this nation and delivered its freedom,” he noted.

He then acknowledged the people in the first liberation, mentioning leaders like Omingo Magara, Martha Karua, and Raila Odinga, who played significant roles in the country’s political evolution.

Turning to the current political landscape, Omondi did not shy away from critiquing President William Ruto. He pointed out that  Ruto is a student of the late president Daniel Arap Moi, stating,

“Do you know the current president, his excellency, Dr. William Ruto is a student of Moi? Everyone of them you can name them Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Wetangula.” He added, “their thinking is the same,”

He said this to suggest that Ruto’s political thinking mirrors that of the former president Daniel arap Moi to imply a continuity of old political practices.

In addition, he said. “If the president passes the bill na kifua, if that is the game, wamaliza tuh waende, it’s 10 years.” Hinting on the possibility of Ruto being re-elected.

His call for self-reliance and political accountability resonates with many Kenyans who are eager for change. The comedian’s influence as a social commentator is now growing day by day.
